Exploration Zones by Exhibit Concepts® is excited to announce the opening of The Dr. Sarah Jandrucko Academy for Early Learners in Mansfield, Texas. Exploration Zones partnered with Mansfield Independent School District, architectural firm Huckabee, and general contractor Bartlett Cocke on the innovative project.
The early learning academy is designed to take learning beyond the traditional classroom, providing early learners with creative and interactive experiences in an engaging and immersive permanent classroom environment.
The academy is named after Dr. Sarah Jandrucko, a long-time educator in Mansfield ISD who pioneered the district’s early literacy initiative. Dr. Jandrucko was an early advocate for experiential education.
Exploration Zones by Exhibit Concepts® was tasked with designing, fabricating, and installing sixteen distinctive permanent learning spaces across 13,000 square feet. Each classroom focused on a variety of educational themes ranging from space and Earth to plants and animals. The spaces utilize hands-on learning through play.
Exploration Zones by Exhibit Concepts® also provided educator guides, curated materials, and training support.
The educator guides were theme-based and developed with district input. They included supportive tools that featured lesson plans, activity ideas, assessment tools, and other teaching strategies. The curated materials included developmentally appropriate classroom materials aligned with early learning standards, lesson plans, and activity ideas.
The academy’s grand opening in January 2019 was a much-anticipated event for the Mansfield community. Parents, educators, and community leaders were excited to see and experience the innovative learning environments. The opening ceremony was a celebration of the academy’s mission to inspire a love for learning in children from an early age.
