Case Study
Alief Independent School District
The Client
Alief Independent School District serves nearly 50,000 students every year. Roughly 80% of those students come from low-income families, making Alief ISD a Title I school district.
The Need
Alief partnered with Exploration Zones by Exhibit Concepts® to help launch an expanded play-based, pre-K program across the district. The project included the construction of two new schools and the conversion of several pre-existing classrooms. The goal of the project aimed to create learning environments that exposed underserved children to a variety of new, engaging experiences.
The Solution
The project included the construction of nearly fifty permanent classrooms and more than two dozen convertible classrooms. The design included a dozen themes highlighting everything from outer space to the local community. The hands-on, play-based classroom environments provided enrichment to children allowing them to expand their knowledge, vocabulary and understanding of the world.
The Takeaway
Exploration Zones by Exhibit Concepts® partnered with architects and general contractors to bring new engaging classrooms to Alief ISD and its diverse student population. Through collaboration and teamwork, Alief ISD was able to create classrooms for the community to be proud of and the students to embrace.
